November 30th marked the end of the 2006 hurricane season. This season saw less
activity than the previous couple of seasons. Only
9 named storms with 5 becoming
hurricanes and
2 becoming major hurricanes.

Three tropical systems made landfall in the United States. These systems were Tropical
Storms, none of the Hurricanes made landfall in the United States which is the first time
this has occurred since the
2001 season.

The major Hurricanes were
Hurricane Gordon and Hurricane Helene. Both systems
remained over the Atlantic Ocean. Both were Category
3 storms on the Saffir-Simpson
scale.  There were
no Category 4 or 5 Hurricanes this season.

The National Hurricane Center is currently re-examining a July weather system over the
Atlantic Ocean to determine whether it qualifies as an unnamed tropical cyclone.

We have created a summary table of the named storms with statistics for each storm
below.

The StormWatch 2007 page will return on or before June 1, 2007 for the 2007 Hurricane
Season.  The names of the 2007 storms are available by clicking the link below the
table.  Thanks for visiting and using the StormWatch page.
